Data Management

The World Agroforestry Centre regards data as one of our most valuable assets. To ensure that our data can be widely utilized we maintain databases in the public domain. We strongly believe that our work benefits from the value added in terms of expanded research results from the use of that data by a wider research community.

To ensure highest quality of our research data the World Agroforestry Centre encourages all of our projects to provide an overall plan for the management of research data produced by the project.

The Research Data Management Plan (RDMP) identifies  project specific  data management needs (training resources, personnel, equipment) for a project to enable us to plan for their support, it also includes details of how the costs of appropriate support to the data management activities (e.g. training, evaluation, advisory etc.) will be met. Each project has to identify one staff who is responsible for the overall management of the data, including metadata collection, verification, compilation, submission to the centers repository.
