Sustainable agriculture – what about climate change?

Ahead of the Sustainable Agriculture Conference to be held in The Netherlands in 2013, four speakers were interviewed about the developments, innovations and key drivers affecting the industry, including Dr Henry Neufeldt, Head of Climate Change Research at the World Agroforestry Centre.

Speaking about the term sustainable agriculture, Neufeldt said: Sustainable agriculture is one that will not deprive us of the ability to generate food, fodder, fibre, fuel and other products in the future. While the term is well established, it does not account future changes due to climate change, and the importance of adaptation to and mitigation of climate change in the agriculture and food sector”.

The Sustainable Agriculture Conference forms part of the 8th annual World Biofuels Congress & Exhibition.
