Summit to support green investments in Indonesia

The recently held Tropical Landscapes Summit 2015 looked at the role of green investment in driving growth in Indonesia and explored options for public-private partnerships in support of Indonesia's national development plans.

Participants at the summit identified issues of uncertainty regarding risk and revenue associated with many green investments, as well as complex government regulations which dissuade green investment in some sectors, reports an article on the website of the International Institute for Sustainable Development.

Organized by the Government of Indonesia, in collaboration with the UN Office for REDD+ Coordination in Indonesia (UNORCID), the summit’s strategic partners included the World Agroforestry Centre.

Business leaders, government officials and representatives of international organizations and civil society attending the summit, discussing several specific topics: food and nutrition security; sustainable cities; energy; conservation; forest management; and sustainable commodity supply chains.

The participants put forward suggestions as to how to address obstacles to private sector investment in the green economy, such as providing incentives to companies to encourage and promote sustainable growth models.
