Teachers and scientists working in agroforestry and related disciplines in India have benefited from training provided by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
The State Times reports that the winter school on ‘Ensuring Livelihood Security through Agroforestry in an Era of Climate Change’ updated participants on the latest scientific and technological advances in agroforestry and climate change.
Topics covered included tree-crop interactions, biodiversity, livelihood security, organic farming, soil and forest conservation, legal issues in agroforestry and climate change mitigation.
Dr. J.P Sharma, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, outlined the importance of refresher course to update knowledge and skills, and how recent advances in agroforestry can ensure the sustainability and improve the productivity of farming systems.
