A freely available and close to real-time deforestation alert and analysis system has been launched.

Global Forest Watch brings together satellite technology, open data and crowdsourcing to guarantee access to timely and reliable information about forests across the globe. It aims to put information about deforestation in the hands of governments, companies, NGOs, and the public.

Global Forest Watch has been developed through a diverse partnership of organizations that contribute data, technical capabilities, funding, and expertise. The partnership includes nearly 40 organizations and has been coordinated by the World Resources Institute
