Landscapes in focus at global conference

Where is climate-smart agriculture headed? asks a blog post about the Global Agriculture, Food Security, and Climate Change Conference which was held in Hanoi, Vietnam in early September.

In his keynote address, Tony Simons, Director General of the World Agroforestry Centre, talked enthusiastically about a whole-landscape approach that keeps the livelihoods of small-scale farmers at the heart of climate-smart agriculture.

This combined with other presentations and discussions at the conference, gave landscape approaches a strong presence, says the article. And the final communique has stressed the need for integrated, systems-based approaches at various scales and across sectors.
