Hope for our food systems

An article on the Food Tank website profiles 101 stories of hope, innovation and success in creating a better food system.

Among the stories highlighted is research by the World Agroforestry Centre which shows how diverse forestry systems provide an effective measure against soil erosion. (Read more)

Also mentioned is the partnership between Timberland and the Smallholder Farmers Alliance in Haiti which aims to plant 5 million trees through community agroforestry.

A study by researchers at the University of California, Berkeley which found that diversified, organic, and agroecological agricultural systems can compete head-to-head with conventional agriculture, is highlighted too.

The authors of the article say they hope these “bright spots in the food system” will inspire businesses, researchers, scientists, funders, donors, and policy makers to create and support a more sustainable food system.
