Farmers in the Rift Valley and Western region of Kenya have been encouraged to plant trees on their farms to combat the effects of climate change as well as to provide them with useful produce.
West FM reports on this advice which comes at the conclusion of a field day at the VI-Agroforestry headquarters in Kitale region during which one of the main topics was a new maize disease and how crop rotation could help to curb its spread.
The VI-Agroforestry program has been operating in Kenya since 1983 and is now heavily involved in educating farmers about matters related to climate change in the region.
