Held every year as part of World Water Week, ‘Eye on Asia’ aims to focus attention on current and emerging issues and challenges in the region's water sector, along with efforts of governments and development agencies to address them.
This year, the day-long event will bring together experts from the water, energy and agriculture sectors to discuss emerging water, food and energy security concerns. Eye on Asia is co-convened by a range of organizations, including the World Agroforestry Centre.
Across Asia, as economies thrive, policy makers need to balance demand for water from competing sectors. New approaches to resource management and innovative thinking are needed to change the current trajectory of increasing water stress and expanding environmental degradation.
World Water Week will be held from 31 August to 5 September 2014 with the theme ‘Energy and Water’. It is hosted and organized annually by the Stockholm International Water Institute.
