These donors include governments of developing and industrialized countries, foundations and international and regional organizations. The work they support is carried out by the 15 members of the CGIAR Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centers including the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), in close collaboration with hundreds of partner organizations, including national and regional agricultural research institutes, civil society organizations, academia and the private sector.
CGIAR Research Program (CRP) 1.2 is entitled "Humidtropics: Integrated Systems for the Humid Tropics." Humidtropics will increase development options and strengthen the capacity of the poor and vulnerable in the humid tropics to improve their livelihoods and living environment based on promising agricultural systems' innovations and technologies. Humidtropics fulfills a key integrative function for all 15 CRPs' research activities of relevance to the humid tropics and provides a unique balance between productivity enhancement, natural resources integrity and institutional issues.
Humidtropics is about partnerships to help the poor and vulnerable in the humid tropics of Africa, Asia and Americas. The Humid and Sub-Humid agro-ecologies cover 3.5 billion hectares with 2.6 billion people.
