Forest degradation is one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions in Africa, says a new report by the Global Land Project.
The World Agroforestry Centre provided input into the study, Challenges and Prospects for REDD+ in Africa, which documents the current state of forests in Africa and strategies for implementing REDD+ (reduced emissions from deforestation and forest degradation).
The report looks at the full spectrum of challenges in implementing REDD+, from political and institutional to technical, social and economic as well as issues associated with funding the mechanism.
