Centre progresses on food security program for Sahel and West Africa

Experts from 5 African countries have met to discuss a food security program that aims to promote wider access to markets, improve the livelihoods of farmers and boost local economies.

Star Africa reports on a sub-regional workshop for the World Agroforestry Centre’s 5-year ‘Enhancing food and water security for rural economic development’ program being funded by the Dutch government. The 30 participants at the workshop exchanged ideas on a monitoring system for the program and learnt more about the Centre’s work in the Sahel region and the Horn of Africa.

The program will be implemented in rural areas of Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Ethiopia and Kenya.
