More than 1,000 of the most influential leaders from business, government, civil society and philanthropy will attend the 10th Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting, reports the Look to the Stars website.
Among the participant list is Howard-Yana Shapiro, Chief Agricultural Officer of Mars Incorporated, Senior Fellow at the University of California Davis and Distinguished Fellow with the World Agroforestry Centre.
Shapiro will join an impressive list of participants that include President Barack Obama for the 2014 event, from 21-24 September in New York City, to discuss global issues around the theme of ‘Reimagining Impact’.
The Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) was developed with the aim of brining leaders together from all sectors of society to create and implement solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges by turning their ideas into action. Participants make ‘Commitments to Action’ that are new, specific, measurable plans to address identified challenges.
Since the first CGI Annual Meeting in September 2005, more than 180 heads of state, 20 Nobel Prize laureates, and hundreds of leading CEOs, heads of foundations and NGOs and major philanthropists have participated in CGI’s Annual Meetings, and members of the CGI community have made more than 2,900 commitments which are already improving the lives of more than 430 million people in over 180 countries.
