The World Agroforestry Centre has managed to offset 2,161 tonnes of carbon dioxide from its 2011 office operations and staff travel.
An article on Forest Carbon Portal outlines how the Centre plans to become carbon neutral and offset the greenhouse gas emissions generated by air and road travel, hotel stays and electricity consumption.
The Centre has purchased carbon credits in the Kasigau Corridor REDD (reduced emissions from deforestation and degradation) project in Kenya. The project is conserving more than 500,000 acres of forest while providing benefits to rural communities. It is helping to safeguard the threatened wildlife migration corridor between Tsavo East and Tsavo West national parks.
