The Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF) has published a review of its activities over the past 2 years, highlighting how it has “set the stage for negotiating the future International Arrangement on Forests (IAF), the forest-related aspects of the expected climate change agreement and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015.”
An article on the website of the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) says the review (2013-2014) coincides with the 15th anniversary of the CPF and demonstrates how the activities of the partnership continue to support sustainable forest management.
The CPF, of which the World Agroforestry Centre is a partner organization is involved in activities and initiatives that: integrate forests into the post-2015 development agenda; simplify reporting; secure forest finance; involve advocacy and outreach; share forest-related information; provide scientific expertise on forests; and promote policy learning on forests.
In the review, the CPF draws attention to 30 joint initiatives and activities it has delivered, including the launch of the Global Forest Information Service (GFIS) to consolidate and share forest information and the convening of the Global Forest Experts Panel (GFEP) and the launch of the Policy Learning Initiative linking science to international forest policy.
