In an effort to curb deforestation in the Thylo district of Malawi, 4 million trees have been planted, close to 2 million of these in agroforestry systems.
Malawi News Agency reports on afforestation and conservation efforts that have involved local communities to ensure the trees survive and are safe from poaching. The World Agroforestry Centre along with other organizations assisted in the tree planting.
To address natural resource issues in Thylo requires “the involvement of all stakeholders in every step of interventions in mitigation of impacts of deforestation, climate change and land degradation,” says the article.
