A project in Namibia to address climate change adaptation through agroforestry, energy-efficient stoves and vegetable production under micro-drip irrigation has been awarded the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change’s Momentum for Change Lighthouse Activities Award.
Through the project, six strategies to cope with climate change vulnerability are being piloted in several local communities. The aim is for these to be duplicated on a larger scale to benefit other communities facing smaller challenges.
All Africa reports that just nine projects from developing countries received the award, presented during the 18th Conference of Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Doha, Qatar.
The Namibian project is being implemented by Creative Entrepreneurs Solutions (CES), Ergonomidesign and the United Nations Development Programme among others.
