Main activities |

|

Raising awareness in ILRI/ICRAF of potential use
of GIS tools in a variety of research and inform GIS users/potential
users in ILRI/ICRAF of new development in GIS tools and their
application
-
Coordinating development of GIS capacity across
ILRI/ICRAF and developing and providing the training needed to
accomplish this
-
Coordinating the management, sharing and exchange
of spatial data within ILRI and with collaborating institutions,
including collecting, documenting and managing all of ILRI GIS and
remote sensing databases
-
Supporting sophisticated GIS/RS analyses for a
wide range of inter-disciplinary research projects
-
Supporting proposal development in projects to
ensure GIS tools were appropriately included in research design and
planning
-
Providing in-depth training courses in GIS and
image analysis across ILRI research sites, including the Nairobi,
Addis Ababa campuses and offices in West Africa and Asia and
providing occasional training in GIS and image interpretation for
colleagues from collaborating institutions
-
Linking with ILRI biometrics unit in development
and provision of spatial statistics tools and ensuring quality
control of spatial
