Elizabeth Kariuki is currently the Executive Manager at the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), based at the headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.
Elizabeth joined ICRAF in 2004 as a Programme Administrative Officer in the Office of the Deputy Director General – Research. In 2008, she was appointed the Head of Contracts and Grants, where she successfully led the establishment of the Contracts and Grants Office as a new Unit within ICRAF. In 2014 she assumed her current role as Executive Manager, where she oversees the Centre's policy development, risk management and special projects within the Director General's office
She has broad professional experience in the areas of grant management, legal contract management, intellectual property management, policy development, risk management, management of information systems and inter-governmental trade relations. Prior to joining ICRAF, Elizabeth worked at Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) as a Project Officer where she was responsible for the trade relations between the government of Japan and 8 African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Madagascar and Seychelles.
Elizabeth served as a Director on the Board of KIMISITU Sacco Ltd for 9 years where she acquired experience in the management of Saccos in Kenya. KIMISITU Sacco is composed of over 7,000 members from 400 organizations with the sectors of international organizations, embassies and high commission.
Elizabeth holds a Masters Degree in International Business Administration (Strategic Management) and a Bachelor of Science in International Business Administration (Information Systems), both from the United States International University. She has numerous certifications in the area of contract management, intellectual property management and trade.
