The Programme for the Development of Alternative Biofuel Crops is being implemented by ICRAF and partners in South Asia, Latin America and Africa. Launched in 2013 and funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), along with the European Commission, this initiative is conducting research in development along biofuel value chains, while at the same time strengthening food security and improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. The Programme is committed to developing biofuels through smart agroforestry models that benefit the poor, support local livelihoods and the environment, empower women and contribute to food security.
