Elizabeth Adu is an international development lawyer and practitioner with over 30 years of experience working at the World Bank. There she spent most of her career in the Legal Department, progressing from working as a lawyer to being appointed to chief counsel for the Africa Region and legal adviser to the Africa Region Vice President and his leadership team. In 2004 she was appointed deputy general counsel of Operations and in 2009 she was appointed director for Operations Services for the Latin America and Caribbean Region. In the latter position she was responsible for the development effectiveness of the World Bank projects in the region as well as aspects related to financial management and procurement. She retired from the World Bank in August 2013. Elizabeth received her LLB from the University of Ghana and her LLM from Temple University, USA.
